I'm happy to share that I've been featured in ACM Women's U-RISE series, in a conversation with Fawzia Kara-Isitt.
We talked about my path from classical studies and philosophy to human-centred educational technology and why I believe technology has to have humanity at its heart. We also spoke about belonging, supporting women in computing, and the lesson that has stayed with me since my PhD:
"Reward success, celebrate failure, and punish inaction." — Robert Sutton
The only real failure is inaction. Success, in the end, is about feeling full inside.

I am pleased to announce a Call for Papers for a forthcoming Special Issue of the CALICO Journal (2027) entitled:
Empowering Language Teachers as Co-designers Through AI and Educational Authoring Tools

This special issue explores how artificial intelligence (AI) and educational authoring tools can empower language teachers to move beyond the role of technology users and become active co-designers of digital learning experiences. As educational contexts grow increasingly complex, the need for pedagogically grounded, ethical, and teacher-driven technology design has never been more urgent
About the Special IssueTraditionally, educational technologies have been developed through top-down approaches that offer limited flexibility for educators. This special issue challenges that model by foregrounding teachers as learning experience designers who actively shape, adapt, and evaluate AI-supported tools. Contributions are invited that critically examine how generative AI and no-code/low-code authoring platforms can bridge the gap between pedagogy and technical development, while also addressing ethical, social, and practical challenges.
The issue aims to bring together theoretical perspectives, empirical studies, and case-based insights from diverse educational settings, including K–12, higher education, private language schools, and informal learning contexts, with particular attention to global and underrepresented perspectives.

  • Ethical frameworks for combining AI and educational authoring tools
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of AI-powered authoring technologies
  • Design principles and evaluation methodologies for teacher-friendly authoring tools
  • Empirical studies on teachers’ pedagogical and digital literacy needs
  • Case studies on ethical AI engagement, feedback, and assessment practices
  • Teacher and student experiences with AI-powered language learning tools
  • Student-centered design of digital language learning resources

Join us at Constructionism 2025 in Zurich, where we will explore innovative ways to shape the future of Constructionism under the theme "Building communities, bridging ideas."  Engage with a global community to discuss new ideas and insights on Constructionism, fostering collaboration and innovation to enhance educational strategies and classroom experiences.  We invite submissions of research papers, best practice papers, symposia, work-in-progress, posters, and workshops.
